Designing Masterpieces with Cardboard

Raymond’s life was a harmonious blend of music and art. His home served as a sanctuary for his creative passions, brimming with distinctive cardboard sculptures and the sound of jazz melodies. Over the years, his captivating artwork was exhibited in prestigious galleries and art spaces, including venues in New York, Philadelphia, Switzerland, Milan, and other European cities.
Beyond his artistic endeavors, Raymond was an integral part of many jazz initiatives. He served as a board member of Trane Stop, performed as a jazz pianist for The Jazz Vespers, and graced the stage of South Philly’s Clef Club. His art was prominently featured in exhibitions at the Kimmel Center, various Massachusetts art galleries, and the Louis L. Redding City/County Building in Wilmington, DE.
Raymond’s iconic cardboard sculptures immortalized cultural and historical figures such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Clifford Brown, Tupac, Biggie, Barack Obama, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to name just a few. His ability to capture the essence of these legends was unparallel.
As Raymond often said: “I am a self-taught artist who discovered endless possibilities in cardboard.”
